DevOps Engineer - Kubernetes

You’ll be working as part of an exceptional team with truly cutting edge technology, using Docker, Kubernetes and Travis to create development environments. The team are currently migrating over the coming weeks, in order to be the first team in the business to be orchestrating all of their production environment using Kubernetes. Their goal is to create a huge business wide Kubernetes cluster, and they will be onboarding more teams throughout the year to realise this goal.

As part of the first adopters of this huge Kubernetes project, you will be helping to create the scope of the migration across the organisation. You’ll need to have demonstrable skill using Kubernetes in a production environment, and be vocal about the simplicity and business value that Kubernetes offers.

This organisation manage huge amounts of data, so you’ll also have the chance to work with Elastic MapReduce (EMR) and Spark, as well as tools like ElasticSearch, Cassandra,  PostgreSQL and MySQL.

This is all on top of a complex set of AWS accounts which a range of different products and environments, as well as establishing varying security permissions between resources, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, CloudFormation, CloudFront, IAM and aws-cli. While it’s not required that you’ve used all of the above, you will need to be a confident user of AWS products across different environments and use cases and have an excellent grasp of IaaS and cloud in general.

You’ll also need good experience in CI and CD pipelines, scripting experience with Python and/or Bash, and exposure to programming. This organisation use Scala, Java and Golang on the development side, so prior exposure to any of these would be an advantage.
