This role as a Lead Linux Consultant will see you working for a managed cloud services organisation who used to host organisations infrastructure and sites etc, but as companies have largely moved or are moving to the cloud, the organisation has evolved accordingly.

In this role , you will have the opportunity to utilise cutting edge technologies across a broad range of OpenStack powered Cloud, Dedicated and Hybrid platforms.

Within the organisation, everyone is client facing meaning the cultural aspect is very important, not how well you get on with every person in the office, but can you be an ambassador for the company?

Effectively the role will see you partnering with 4-5 clients, getting a full understanding of what those organisations are trying to achieve and then translating that into technical plans and designs to achieve the desired outcome. This means you will have control of the Architecture designs, but where a normal architect would then pass them on to be actioned, you will see the project through to the end, getting involved at code level with the Engineers to produce the deliverable, therefore plentiful hands-on experience is required. In that sense, it is a unique position to be fully involved at every step for the full life-cycle.

As an individual, you will have to be very consultative, someone who can be customer facing to take the brief to then translate that into a project.

- Ideally you will come from a Sys Admin background having a full grasp of all of the Linux fundamentals, but you must also have to have those leadership qualities and extensive experience.

- Cloud experience is very important, both Public and Private (OpenStack,Rackspace Cloud / AWS, Azure)

- Someone who can be accountable, can receive calls from the client for updates and so on...


It is a very broad role, so extensive experience with: Networking, Virtualisation, Storage as well as being adept at learning the whole product suite of the organisation too.


On a very basic level, you will;
- Translate what organisations are trying to achieve into technical designs, assisting them in achieving their objectives.

- Drive the Cloud adoption and adoption of Hybrid technologies.

- Improve customer's solution architecture and operations.

- Advise and design Linux Solutions built using dedicated hardware, virtualised environments and the Cloud.

- Design and manage changes, maintenance, and migrations of customers solutions.

You will be managing complex problems as well as be a consultative resource aid customers in their planning of future growth. Asvising on the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices.
