Senior Platform Engineer
Contract | £500 - £600 per annum | Central London | City of London
A niche cloud consultancy is looking for an exceptionally strong Senior Platform Engineer to join the team on one of their two major projects that are currently running.
The consultancy in question are well known in the industry for a number of reasons, a couple being; the delivery of their projects is second-to-none, and for the exceptional standard of Engineer they bring aboard.

With regard to the role, there are two major projects currently running that each require a Senior Platform Engineer. You will join the team to be responsible for the design, automation, operational and build needs of all infrastructure and application components. The further details of each project can be disclosed over a phone call.
In order to be eligible for these positions, you will ideally come from a Development background, having focused on any of the functional programming languages, and have moved more into the DevOps space.
Technologies that are preferable for this position include:
- Ideally you will be able to give concrete examples of work done on a significant real-world infrastructure or project, with explanations of choices made, challenges solved.
- You will be asked to explain it's clear advantages over CloudFormation. Be able to provide a basic but well thought-out, sketched example of how a codebase for two projects in three environments would be structured in a modular fashion.
- Ansible (preferable)
If Puppet is your key tool, you must be able to explain fundamental concepts like the differences between defined resources and parameterized classes, the three ways to pass values to the latter in order to diversify environments, or show correct examples of either the definition or the instantiation of the same primitives, or explain hiera data in any meaningful amount of detail.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior technologist to come in a make a real difference within one of two large-scale and high profile projects. Again, Strong DevOps required, having come from a Development background.
